Mr. Lobo hosts this special Halloween episode of 'Cinema Insomnia' featuring the 1959 horror classic 'House on Haunted Hill', where Vincent Price plays an eccentric millionaire who dares five strangers to spend the night at a haunted house.
MR. LOBO'S CINEMA INSOMNIA: In the tradition of vintage horror host shows, Mr. Lobo appears in brief vignettes in between segments of the late night movie in this nationally syndicated television show. Various odd companions and characters have appeared over the show's 18-year tour of duty–like a houseplant named Miss Mittens and a female robot monster named Ro-Mana. Also appearing in the breaks are satirical commercials (like one for "Rad Abrams: Skateboard Attorney"), old movie trailers, classic commercials and interviews shot at horror/sci-fi conventions and film festivals across the country. "They're Not Bad Movies...Just Misunderstood!"
Mr. Lobo takes you on a Halloween night trip to the House on Haunted Hill! This 1959 horror classic stars Vincent Price as an eccentric millionaire who dares five strangers to spend the night at a genuine haunted house. Director William Castle loved his gimmicks (like "Emergo" - a plastic skeleton that floated above the audience during the film's conclusion!) so Mr. Lobo has whipped out a gimmick of his own - if you can get through the movie, you have a (very slim) chance of winning Ten Thousand Dollars! In addition, throughout the episode viewers will witness Mr. Lobo's unique wrap-arounds, trailers and retro TV commercials - with a special emphasis on Vincent Price himself (did you know the Merchant of Menace shilled for submarine sandwiches in Milwaukee?) Plus Mr. Lobo interviews Sid Haig (Spider Baby, House of 1000 Corpses) and the premiere of the "I'm Watching TV" music video (sung by Ron Dante of The Archies with lyrics by Mr. Lobo!) It's the most special Cinema Insomnia Halloween Special ever!
