Smoke Thatcher intends to borrow his dad's car and enjoy a night out with his girl Patsy. But Dad learns that Smoke is behind in his schoolwork and angrily puts his parental foot down. Smoke steals a neighbor's car only to find himself in a demolition derby "car fight" with a drunken romantic rival. Needing fast money for repairs, Smoke takes a job as driver for Beaut Thibaut - unaware that Beaut is a wanted fugitive planning to use Smoke as a pawn in his next bank heist.
