AVID Jazz continues with its Four Classic album series with a re-mastered 2CD release by Bob Cooper, complete with original artwork and liner notes. 'Bob Cooper Sextet'; 'Shifting Winds'; Bud Shank & Bob Cooper 'Flute 'n Oboe' and Bob Cooper-'Coop!-The Music Of Bob Cooper' Bob Cooper was perhaps one of the more unfairly under-rated and uncelebrated musicians from what was known as the West Coast School of Cool Jazz which came to prominence on the west coast of the U.S.A. in the 1950's. He was a gifted arranger, composer and band leader and played the tenor sax, oboe and English horn which many credit him with introducing to modern jazz. Bob Cooper has played with and arranged for Stan Kenton, his wife June Christy, Shorty Rogers, Jimmy Guiffre, Bud Shank, Shelly Manne, Art Pepper and Bud Shank.
