The fictitious Buchanan Brothers are actually a side project for Cashman, Pistelli & West (writers for Eddy Arnold, Mama Cass and The Mills Brothers).

The Buchanan Brothers' two albums, Medicine Man and Son of a Lovin' Man, - were combined on this single-CD reissue by Collectables. Although the sound and the packaging could be a little better, this still is a fine way for collectors to pick up these two records on disc. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine

Mediocre Bubblegum Music Music Lover: from Gulfport, FL -- January, 2, 2018

Personally, for the sake of comparison, I would classify this music as Bubblegum music. However it is nowhere near the quality of Bubblegum you get with the "masters" of the genre such as Joey Levine, The Archies, 1910 Fruitgum Co., Ohio Express, Kasenetz–Katz, and, well, you get the picture.

Some people hate the genre and find it very annoying. I get that, however, I enjoy it on occasion and I also respect good craftsmanship in songwriting. What I hear in this collection is a weak (and annoying) attempt to cash in on the genre, which, in my opinion, fails. I can't tell you how many songs that I used the "next track" button on my remote. I couldn't even make it through to the end.

Evidently, these guys wrote successful songs for other artists. If you have a few BB songs in your collection at present, well, that just might be enough.
