Entertainment Reviews:
The titular precipitation in Lana's Rain is a manifestation of the badness in the world -- but here, badness is pure Lifetime Channel.

Low-budget gangster picture.
Hollywood Reporter
Rating: 1.5/4 --
Cliche-riddled, poorly acted and ultimately delirious.
Los Angeles Daily News
Rating: 2/4 --
Uses the great recurring American movie theme of immigrants arriving in the big American cities to both good and bad advantage.
Chicago Tribune
Clumsily under-written and feverishly overacted, it's as embarrassing to watch as it is perplexing.

Washington Post
The movie hinges on Orlenko, a Ukrainian model-actress making her American feature debut, and she delivers a sterling performance.

Even as I noted a glitch here and there in the plot, I was aware that the movie itself, and especially the character of Lana, had enlisted my sympathy.

Product Description:
In the aftermath of the Balkan Wars in the early 1990's, Lana and her brother Darko are just two of the countless refugees who left their country illegally in search of a better life. Darko's past in the underworld of their homeland allows him to secure illegal passage to America, and he offers to take Lana with him. Once in Chicago, they lose each other for two years, and when Lana is reunited with her long lost brother she struggles to maintain her grasp on the only family she has left. Pursuing her simple version of the American dream--a new life, friends, job--she is instead pulled into the life of crime that Darko inhabits. They exist the only way he knows how: on the fringes of society, inhabiting the darkest regions of America's underbelly. He takes advantage of Lana's innocence, capitalizing on her desire for a family in this foreign land. Ultimately, however, Lana must take control of her own destiny, choosing for herself how to make her dreams come true.

But her illusions are shattered as she is forced to survive by any means possible on the mean streets of Chicago. As she gets pulled deeper and deeper into her brother's criminal world while a steely determination grows in her heart, lana must risk her own life to overcome Darko and his pursuers if she hopes to finally realize her dream.
