Rating: 1.5/5 -- Starts with a not-very-original insight and takes too many shortcuts delivering it.
New York Times

Rating: 3/4 -- Kudos to writer/director/co-star Philippe Caland for crafting such a refreshingly unpredictable cautionary tale and for coaxing inspired performances from an A-list cast which inludes by Forest Whitaker, Virginia Madsen and Minnie Driver. Full Review

Rating: 2.5/4 -- After a bumpy start, Ripple Effect begins to show why Whitaker, Virginia Madsen and Minnie Driver signed on as executive producers and co-stars. Full Review

Several ordinarily banal movies soldered into one amazingly bad one. Full Review

Rating: 1.5/4 -- I understand Amer is supposed to be going through some sort of spiritual crisis here, but Caland plays him as so self-centered and precious that it's impossible to feel any sympathy for him. Full Review

Rating: 1/5 -- Thank God Whitaker is here to bring a bit of real pathos and ambiguity to his role as the spiritual guide who's gained wisdom through adversity, because without his Oscar-winning chops, this exercise in pop mysticism would have been too painful to bear. Full Review

Product Description:

Lebanese immigrant Amer Atrash (Philippe Caland) has always found the American dream is just slightly out of reach, but he thinks he knows the source of his troubles. Years ago, he was responsible for putting another man (Oscar winner Forest Whitaker) in a wheelchair, and Amer blames this event for cursing his life. His wife (SIDEWAYS' Virginia Madsen) gives Amer the advice to find the man to make amends, which sets Amer on an unforgettable path that will lead him to a changed life. Oscar nominee Minnie Driver also stars in this film that was written, directed, and produced by Caland.
