Product Description:

As produced by cable's History Channel, the documentary series WEAPONS AT WAR examines the history of weaponry over the centuries and speculates on military arsenals of the future. The eight WEAPONS AT WAR documentaries in this box set hone in specifically on the weaponry and military techniques of World War II. The programs begin with an examination of the destruction wielded by Hitler's elite troops, with subtopics including Nazi military training, the history of WWII Nazi battles, and a survey of their tactics. Next up is a detailed and systematic look at the tools that the Allied and Axis powers deployed on air, land and sea, including Luftwaffe planes and pilots, Panzer tanks and the infamous Wolf Packs. The remainder of the programs in the set cover the Pacific Theater of the Second World War, and look closely at the U.S. soldiers who put their lives and safety on the line to defeat the imperialist Japanese in locales including Okinawa, Iwo Jima, Guadalcanal and Wake Island. The set then concludes by examining the events that led up to D-Day and the Invasion of Normandy.
