TOMATOMETER
4 stars out of 5 -- It’s furious, relevant and funny as hell, weaving politics into a package that’s part satire, part blaxploitation-flick and part cop thriller.
Total Film
An incredible true-life story told in a boisterously exaggerated way, BLACKKKLANSMAN is certainly Spike Lee’s most flat-out entertaining film in quite a long time...
Hollywood Reporter
[A] furious, funny, blunt and brilliant confrontation with the truth. It’s an alarm clock ringing in the midst of a historical nightmare, and also a symphony, the rare piece of political popular art that works in all three dimensions.
New York Times
This is a film loaded with broad comedy, bold speechifying, blunt depictions of racism, and astonishing visual flair; it is a Spike Lee movie, made with the kind of artistic and political verve that recalls his best work.
The Atlantic
With Lee’s knockabout treatment, this stranger-than-fiction story lights up like a barroom pinball machine...
The Guardian
4 stars out of 5 -- Lee keeps the film’s tone seesawing between knockabout adventure and deathly serious political polemic...
Empire
The introductory sequence to BLACKKKLANSMAN is just as audacious, breathtaking and useful as Lee’s fans have come to expect.
Washington Post
Product Description:
Director Spike Lee's dramedy was produced by the team behind GET OUT and offers another provocative exploration of American race relations. In the midst of the 1970s civil rights movement, Ron Stallworth (John David Washington) becomes the first black detective on the Colorado Springs Police Department. He sets out to prove his worth by infiltrating the local chapter of the Ku Klux Klan and convinces his Jewish colleague (Adam Driver) to go undercover as a white supremacist.
