While this buoyant account of his brief but eventful life might feel like a rock climber's MAN ON WIRE the Oscar-winning 2008 documentary about tightrope walker Philippe Petit, director Marah Strauch gives the film an exhilarating uplift of its own.

Some of the best stuff in the movie derives from Boenish-shot footage -- heights may be scary but they do tend to furnish some spectacular views.

Product Description:

Marah Strauch's documentary SUNSHINE SUPERMAN examines the life of Carl Boenish, a man who set records in, and helped popularize, the activity of BASE jumping -- which involves jumping off of either buildings, antennas, spans, or the Earth. With a mixture of archival footage privately recorded by Boenish, as well as reenactments, the filmmakers showcase how his drive to jump from greater and greater heights, and live a life unencumbered by fear, made him a role model to many, and also led to his early death.
