It is an obvious but feeble imitation of "The Ten Commandments" of Cecil B. de Mille, and it is much more concerned with salt-mining than it is with debauchery or lust. Full Review

Rating: 2.5/4 -- An interesting addition to the Aldrich filmography, which is laden with moral cynicism. Full Review

In this case silliness triumphs over everything - morality, script, cast and music; it even triumphs over dis- approval-you can't be disgusted at anything quite so preposterous. Full Review

Sin is suggested by languid groups of people, nattily dressed in '60s evening gowns, lolling around on the floor, while the virtuous Hebrews look more like a bunch of self-sufficient drongos droning on about making the land fertile. Full Review

Rating: C -- It has all the disadvantages of the Sword and Sandal epics without too many of the advantages. Full Review

Aldrich makes the most of the story's depravity, dredging the depths of lust and betrayal as Granger locks into a bitter power struggle with the cities' sultry queen, Aimée, and her ambitious brother Baker. Full Review

This isn't really as awful or as campy as you might expect, but it's not exactly a masterpiece either. Full Review

Description by OLDIES.com:

Region 0, Korean import version. English language, with optional subtitles in English and Korean.

Product Description:

Stewart Granger stars as Lot, the biblical sage who leads the Hebrews to the valley of Jordan. Once there, they become entangled with the Helamites, who are reveling in the sin, sex, scandal, and depravity of the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah. When some of his followers succumb to the decadent pleasures of the Helamites--and God threatens to wreak havoc on the entire valley--Lot tries to find a way to deliver his wife, Ildith (Pier Angeli), and his people to salvation.

Director Robert Aldrich (VERA CRUZ, WHAT EVER HAPPENED TO BABY JANE') does a masterful job of re-creating the scriptural story of the original sin cities. Featuring massive sets and awesome special effects that produce a breathtakingly numinous atmosphere of piety and reverence for divine powers, SODOM AND GOMORRAH is an ambitious and satisfyingly gargantuan biblical epic.
