It's a story with all the hallmarks of a typically British feel-good movie in the tradition pioneered by the Ealing comedies of the post-WWII years when the country needed all the laughs it could raise.

Aussie Toni Collette can play anyone and here she pulls off the role of a Welsh woman with a big dream. There's a Welsh expression 'hwyl' to express intense fervor + enthusiasm. This movie certainly captures that spirit and then some.

Dream Horse doesn't call for quite the same wide-eyed attention but it's a pleasant enough picture that belongs in the same camp as all those British charmers in which the underdogs prevail.

Product Description:
Directed by Euros Lyn, this British comedy film stars Toni Collette as Jan Vokes, a Welsh bartender who comes up with the idea of breeding a horse intended for racing. Since she lives in a town that is down on its luck, her neighbors start pitching in and participate in financing for the horse. They see the horse as their chance of redeeming their town and lifting their spirits as it races up the ranks, hopefully to become a champion thoroughbred. Based on a true story.
