Convicted murderer Dan Hardesty is being transported on a cruise liner from Hong Kong to San Quentin to be executed. When he falls in love with a young woman dying from an incurable heart disease, neither of them initially knows that the other's fate is also sealed. As they part in San Francisco, they vow to meet each other again in Mexico in one year--but it's unlikely either will survive until then.
