WWII Newsreel History of the Third Reich, Volume 13

Compiled from unique footage plundered by Russian troops in 1945, these newsreels were made under the influence of Goebbels' Ministry of Propaganda. This DVD deals with the first part of 1943, covering events on all the German fronts including the 10th anniversary of Hitler's ascension to power, the construction of submarine bunkers, and the strengthening of the Atlantic wall from Norway to the Bay of Biscay.

In lieu of presenting a factual and unbiased portrait of Nazi Germany during World War II, the A NEWSREEL HISTORY OF THE THIRD REICH series actually consists of distorted propaganda footage, shot and edited by the Nazis in such a way that it was intended to give German citizens a more glowing picture of the Reich's progress and development in the Second World War. The footage was collected by the Russians in 1945 and now appears, edited together, in this unique series. The 13th volume covers the events of early 1943, with highlights including the British bombing of Italian convoys off the coast of Tunisia, the bombardment of German defenses at Leningrad, and the 10th-anniversary celebration of Hitler's rise to power.
