Liner Note Author: Jos‚ Ferrer .
Originally released by Reprise Records in 1963, this live date from pianist Joe Bushkin at Town Hall features nine laid-back interpretations of standards, including "I Can't Get Started," "They Can't Take That Away From Me," "One for My Baby," and "The Song Is Ended." Bushkin is backed by Chuck Wayne on guitar, Milt Hinton on bass, and Ed Shaughnessy on percussion. This disc is recommended more as romantic background music than jazz. ~ Al Campbell

Under-estimated Jazz great

There is not much Joe Bushkin available in CD. I was lucky to hear this formibale pianist at Nice Jazz Festival in the early 80s, and this CD shows him as good as in my memory. He has a great technique, but also a lot to say, and does not forget to swing. Why he was not more popular remains a mistery. Ed Shaugnessy is OK, and Milt Hinton his usual self (in other words : great). Highly recommended
