Rating: C+ -- Detour is just film-school-ish synthesis, right down to the cinematography-midterm shot lit through venetian blinds and the anachronistic analog static on the motel room TV ... Full Review

3 stars out of 5 -- DETOUR is a stylish movie, enjoying the familiar dusty hues of a road trip to Vegas and attractively colour-coding its characters...

Rating: 3/5 -- Goes down like sweet syrup. There's no reason to see this one in lieu of [U-Turn, Memento, The Last Seduction etc] but if you've seen those, you'll probably get on just fine with this. Like its characters, it puts on no airs or graces: it is what it is. Full Review

Rating: 1/4 -- Neither narrative is particularly compelling, but the road trip one has an edge, because travel's always fun. Full Review

Rating: 3/5 -- The satisfaction in Detour ultimately comes not from the drama drawn from these conflicting personalities, but a finale that knits together the plots. None of the twists are truly surprising, but they're engineered with solid craftsmanship. Full Review

Rating: 3.5/5 -- Even with all the nods and winks, the derivations and homages, Detour is good dirty fun. Full Review

Even with three of the big screen's most dynamic up-and-comers at its center, there's no flesh and blood beneath all the posturing. Full Review

Product Description:

A young law student (Tye Sheridan) suspects that his stepfather (Stephen Moyer) was responsible for a horrific car accident that left his mother in a coma, and he drunkenly asks a low-rent crook (Emory Cohen) for help plotting revenge. When said crook and a stripper companion (Bel Powley) show up at his doorstep the next morning, the story splits into multiple timelines that explore the various ways this scheme could play out. Written and directed by Christopher Smith.
