In only 78 minutes, this eye-widening, startlingly honest little movie says more about love, and the difficulties of keeping it fresh, than most rom-coms with 10 times its budget. Full Review

Rating: 4/5 -- An unexpected delight. Effortlessly warping dark comedy and drama, with a delicious sprinkling of kink, there's much awkwardly hilarious fun to be had as boundaries are pushed and secrets revealed. Full Review

Rating: 8/10 -- Proudly crude and hilarious whilst doing so, The Overnight is a night of debauchery that will make you cringe yet unable to turn away. Full Review

The adventures in The Overnight are at once unbelievable and totally believable, and the actors create very real, very funny characters. Full Review

Brice’s brisk and beguiling little indie takes you in various directions over the course of a long evening....His film is deft and delicate and exquisitely uncomfortable, but it also offers revelations that are joyful, sad and true.

Writer-director Patrick Brice has lucked out with quartet of playfully scrappy actors who couldn't be better suited to their roles or more eager to rouse our prurient interest.

Rating: B -- Brice goes a bit too broad at times, but he keeps things just funny and edgy and open enough for "The Overnight" to work. Full Review

Product Description:

In Patrick Brice's comedy-drama THE OVERNIGHT, two very different couples have a wild night of drinking and debauchery after their children go to bed following a playdate. Emily (Taylor Schilling) and Alex (Adam Scott) recently moved from Seattle to L.A, and they're feeling a little out of sorts -- they haven't made any new friends, and caring for their young son has left them constantly exhausted and sexually unsatisfied. That all changes when they meet Kurt (Jason Schwartzman) and his French wife Charlotte (Judith Godrèche), who invite both of them and their child over to their home. Emily and Alex are in awe of the hipper couple, who initially appear to be both better parents and happier spouses; as the night wears on, however, Kurt and Charlotte's bizarre dysfunctions threaten to expose the fissures in Alex and Emily's own marriage.
