Expanding Spaces is a collaborative project to perform and record contemporary works related to the theme of Expanding Space.Three of these works, "Squares and Oblongs", "four scenes for Juliet", and "The Vacant Shore" were commissioned for this project. The fourth work, "Solar Prominences", was commissioned for the Concord (Massachusetts) Band in 1988 for their 25th anniversary season.
