Entertainment Reviews:
3 stars out of 4 -- [A] solid hangout movie as well as a band-of-buddies film....It's also a movie that deliberately blurs the line between documentary and fiction: the main characters are all real New York skaters who are playing characters who are very close to themselves in real life.

Rating: 5/5 --
If a breeze blowing through New York City decided to make a film, it would be Skate Kitchen. Nearly every moment here, of camerawork or character play, is wistfully, blissfully fluid.

Financial Times
[A] gritty yet dreamlike semi-doc from Crystal Moselle in which a shy, determined skateboarder finds her clan.
Boston Globe
Rating: 4/5 --
Gives its audience a sense of the almost pastoral innocence of skateboarding, its devotion to nothing more or less than having fun: a subversive urban vocation that is devoted to the art of pleasure.

Guardian
Skate Kitchen is a highly realistic and believable narrative feature, populated with non-professional actors playing versions of themselves. Not much happens. What does happen is natural and relevant. And the film is terrific.

Skate Kitchen is a wonderfully lyrical and well-observed rites of passage story.

[L]ess a coming-of-age film than a series of crucial episodes in that process, SKATE KITCHEN mixes dreaminess and disillusionment as it observes the choices Camille makes and the ensuing fallout...
Hollywood Reporter
Product Description:
Director/co-writer Crystal Moselle explores themes of friendship, personal freedom, athletic subculture, and gender dynamics in this coming-of-age film. Camille (Rachelle Vinberg), a lonely Long Island skateboarder, is thrilled to be accepted into a group of all-female skateboarders based in New York's Lower East Side. Her newfound friendships become strained when she befriends a boy from a rival group of all-male skaters.
