Entertainment Reviews:
It’s bulging with giant confidence and packed with outbursts of that mysterious epiphanic grandeur, like moments of sunlight breaking through cloud-cover, with which Audiard endows apparently normal sequences and everyday details.
The Guardian
Rating: 2/5 --
Shooting on actual locations and with a cast of nonprofessional actors, writer-director Jacques Audiard keeps the neorealism pumping until a third act concession to conventionality (and vigilantism) leads it in the direction of Cannon Pictures.

Fnds resolution in a coda that turns maudlin thanks to an overblown music cue, but it's a minor flaw in an otherwise strong film.

For three-quarters of its running time, "Dheepan" feels like something special.

Rating: 4/5 --
A film that shocks and whose visual language is so vivid, the images linger long after the credits have rolled.

3 stars out of 4 -- The interplay between the cast, especially the actor's scenes with Srinivasan's makeshift spouse, provide a deep, emotional give-and-take.
Rolling Stone
Rating: 3.5/4 --
Like the best fiction, it takes the most incomprehensible stories of our time and makes them hauntingly, inescapably clear.

Product Description:
Sri Lankan soldier Dheepan (Antonythasan Jesuthasan) flees his war-torn home country by posing as a member of a fake family with a female refugee (Kalieaswari Srinivasan) and a young girl (Claudine Vinasithamby), which allows all three of them to seek asylum in a Parisian housing project. Although he has escaped from the conflict in Sir Lanka, Dheepan is haunted by his violent past and soon becomes entangled in the criminal activity at a low-rent apartment complex. Jacques Audiard directed this crime drama, which was awarded the Palme d'Or at the 2015 Cannes Film Festival.
