This harrowing documentary takes a look at an African-American family who have been all but destroyed by the system. The Collins family are followed over a five year period as they struggle to rise out of the Chicago ghetto in which they live, while also battling against drug addiction, murder in their neighborhood, and other devastating events. Director Tod Lending follows the Collins, turning in an Oscar-nominated film in the process.
