What If God Were the Sun?

Inconsolable after learning that her father died in an adjacent hospital room while she cared for another patient, an ER nurse who never believed in the afterlife finds her spiritual outlook starting to shift following an encounter with a faithful, yet terminally ill patient. Jamie (Lacey Chabert) never gave much thought to what happens after death; lately she's been too busy saving lives and preparing for her wedding to give any real thought to the matter. As far as Jamie is concerned, there is no light at the end of the tunnel. So when Jamie missies the opportunity to bid her father a final farewell, she's absolutely devastated. But just as it seems as if grief has gotten the best of Jamie, a patient (Gena Rowlands) facing certain death transforms the skeptical nurse's beliefs in a way she never thought possible.
