Soul Classics, Vol. 2 improves on the first volume of Collectables' soul series by offering more songs -- 14 as opposed to eight -- and by featuring a slightly more diverse selection of tracks. The collection still focuses on the romantic, quiet storm side of '70s soul, featuring songs like Brainstorm's "This Must Be Heaven," the Manhattans' "Kiss and Say Goodbye," Earth, Wind & Fire's "After the Love Has Gone," and the O'Jays' version of "Hello, It's Me." The album also includes interesting, but not defnitive, tracks by soul greats such as Isaac Hayes, Gladys Knight & the Pips, and Enchantment. While it's not an essential collection, Soul Classics, Vol. 2 does provide a unique look at '70s soul. ~ Heather Phares
