A stunning documentary which shows the evolution of the early 20th century pseudo-science eugenics, and how its initially optimistic aim--adapting humanity to a social idea through biology--was adopted by Nazi Germany and pre-Stalinist Russia to further their bigoted, racist ideologies. The film effectively points out the implausibilities and ridiculousness of eugenics as an actual practice, through a mixture of interviews with doctors, factual narration by Jan Holmquist, and a broad range of clips and stills from various sources.
