One of the greatest un-heralded arrangers who ever wrote for a big band, Bob Florence was widely revered by musicians from Thelonious Monk to saxophonist Bud Shank, with whom Florence produced a highly successful series of instrumental albums. Recorded in 1960, "Bongos / Reeds / Brass" is a very rare solo album for Florence and finds he and his studio band in fine form as they run through masterful arrangements of classic tunes including "Blues In The Night," "Button Up Your Overcoat," the "Theme From Romeo & Juliet" and many more.
