Product Description:
Best remembered as the co-author of the perennial standard "Sweet Georgia Brown" and his signature call, "yowsah, yowsah, yowsah," Ben Bernie was an American jazz violinist, band leader and radio personality who was often referred to as "The Old Maestro." A true showman, Bernie was known for his sharp wit and snappy dialogue. Bernie's orchestra recorded extensively throughout the 1920s and 1930s for a variety of labels; this compilation hits on many of the memorable tunes he made famous including his trademark theme song, "It's A Lonesome Old Town." Guest vocalists include Don Jacoby, Dick Marx, Russ Carlyle, Margie Little, Lenny Collyer, Tommy Shephard, Milt Hubatka and Frankie Rullo. All selections newly remastered.
