Acasa is fascinating and complicated, lyrical and messy; we sympathize with the subjects while also feeling society's spasm of impatience with them. Full Review

Lyrical and provocative, ACASA, MY HOME brings an intimate slant to age-old questions about the value of conformity, the pleasures and challenges of the natural world versus the comforts and distractions of modernity, and the amorphous but essential matter of what constitutes a good life.

3 stars out of 4 -- [T]his isn’t a rosy story of urban transformation. As the kids -- especially the oldest, Vali -- reconcile their old lives with the new, grudges rise up to the surface and heartbreaking generational confrontations take place...

Product Description:

A ragtag gaggle of nine young children lives deep in the wilds of the Bucharest Delta with their families, partaking in a life of peace and enjoying the simplicity of nature for nearly twenty years. However, powers beyond their control soon push the families out of the forest and into the metropolitan sprawl, forcing them to negotiate the contemporary, urbanized world. Directed by filmmaker Radu Ciorniciuc.
