[Barnard] shoulders the majority of the screentime with an able combo of juvenile urgency and incipient swashbuckle.

Rating: 2/4 -- There simply isn't a whole lot of excitement being generated in this lackluster family adventure, though it tries oh so very hard. Full Review

Rating: 2/4 -- The Adventurer: The Curse of the Midas Box could somewhat aptly be described as National Treasure in Victorian England. That is to say, it has that distinct feeling of being a tenth-generation ripoff of Raiders of the Lost Ark. Full Review

Rating: 2/5 -- Forgettable and flat, the film tries and fails at being an adventure that the entire family can enjoy. Full Review

Rating: 1.5/4 -- "This is horrible!" Sacha the seamstress says. "I have to get out of here!" She stole the thoughts right out of my brain as I watched Jonathan Newman's dismally directed, inert action movie The Adventurer: Curse of the Midas Box. Full Review

Rating: B- -- As a Part One it effectively disseminates exposition with enough adventure to keep our attention on these characters coming into their own. Full Review

Product Description:

A courageous teen embarks on a magical quest to rescue his kidnapped brother and find their missing parents in this sprawling fantasy adventure. Mariah Mundi (Aneurin Barnard) is a typical 17-year-old kid who never knew what mysteries the world had to offer until his family vanished without a trace. Now, in order to get them back, Mariah must find a way to the opulent Prince Regent Hotel -- but getting there won't be easy, because treacherous secrets spell danger at every impasse, and child-snatching monsters await him at every turn. Meanwhile, with a mysterious ancient artifact finally within reach, the young adventurer must discover the true meaning of responsibility in order to wield its formidable power for the forces of good, and rescue his loved ones.
