Excel Saga - The Complete Collection

Billed as "the ultimate parody of anime," EXCEL SAGA certainly goes out of its way to satirize genre conventions. From the cloying J-pop opening, it's clear that this series' sole aim is to be a good-natured farce, one that revolves around a main character who, on the surface, is not much different from any other anime heroine. But it soon becomes clear that the key difference between Excel and all those who preceded her is that she is completely and utterly insane and considers it her prerogative to conquer the city of F, leading to bizarre altercations with Martian princesses, afro-wearing action heroes, mysterious government agencies, space butlers, deranged comic book authors, annoying roommates, and removable moustaches, among other things. The wacky series is presented in its entirety with this collection of episodes.
