Product Description:
As directed by Sylvia Beck, this biographical documentary profiles Michael Nyman, one of the most celebrated artists of the late 20th and early 21st centuries. Though best known as a composer who scored such films as THE OGRE, THE DRAUGHTSMAN'S CONTRACT, THE PIANO and MAN ON WIRE, Nyman also honed and sustained a passion for cinema and photography, and began a transition into these art forms after making his name in music. Beck helmed her film at this moment of transition, and follows Nyman as he moves from London, to Berlin, to Mexico, to Poland, to Holland, to Portugal. We witness him pursuing his musical interests in these and other locales - performing with The Michael Nyman Band and other ensembles - while developing various visually-oriented works on the side. Through it all, the film offers an intimate window into Nyman's creative processes, emotions, and paradigm.
