More Dobro - A Lesson in Lap-Style Dobro Playing

Dobro master Doug Cox presents a private lesson on a unique instrument in MORE DOBRO: A LESSON IN LAP STYLE DOBRO PLAYING. The Dobro, or resonating guitar, was invented in the 1920s to provide a stronger and louder sound to the guitar. Since the invention of the electric guitar, the Dobro has had continued existence as a specialized instrument, sought out for its unique sound. Cox teaches the viewer the notes, keys, and major chords most commonly used when playing the Dobro, and illustrates the techniques with a sampling of simple songs.
