Product Description:

Episodes 14-17 of the vintage TV show THE BEAT are highlighted by footage of jazz legend Louis Jordan, who helped define the emerging R&B sound in the 1940s with the buoyant rhythms he played on his saxophone. Shown here in 1966, he obviously still had the touch, and still fronted one of the hottest bands around. An additional treat are guitarists Freddie King, an inspiration to both rock musicians and bluesmen alike, and Clarence "Gatemouth" Brown. Examples of Clarence 'Frogman' Henry's New Orleans-style R&B round out this stellar lineup of classic musicians from the exciting period of the 1960s.
