This two tape set is a compendium of rare performances, interviews with Buddy and those that knew him, and documentary style footage, complete with narration by the Velvet Fog himself, Mel Torme. Part one features a collection of rare performances from the years 1939-1970 featuring Artie Shaw, Harry James, and Tommy Dorsey as well as an incredible drum duel with Gene Krupa. Part two finds Mr. Rich heading his own big band and features performances from 1970-1987, including Buddy with his small groups as well as a number of television performances.
