TOMATOMETER
HOPE SPRINGS is, in parts, raw, moving, brave, audacious and painful thanks to the combined ability of Streep and Jones to commit fully to unhappy suburban mediocrity.
Movieline
3 stars out of 4 -- [Tommy Lee Jones] finds a character here who seems unlike any other he has played and plays it bravely.
Chicago Sun-Times
A surprise that sneaks up and moves you....The movie perseveres with affecting, sometimes startling candor, and eventually delivers on its promise by confronting the dark fears and furtive hopes of a couple no longer young.
Wall Street Journal
Her voice light and nervous, Streep's shy but stubborn Kay is a neat, unshowy performance...
Sight and Sound
4 stars out of 5 -- HOPE SPRINGS is a beautifully acted, funny, touching and fascinating look at relationships and the mysterious divide between men and women. Streep is pure magic and Jones arguably gives the performance of his career here.
Box Office
[The film] delivers plenty of warmth....Streep’s performance is a winning mix of vulnerability and determination...
Hollywood Reporter
3 stars out of 5 -- [B]efitting actors of their calibre and experience, Jones and Streep effortlessly deliver.

Product Description:
An aging couple strive to conquer their sexual hang-ups and save their 30-year marriage from going stale by visiting a renowned couple's therapist in this comedy from director David Frankel (THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA, MARLEY & ME). After three decades of marriage, Kay (Meryl Streep) and Arnold (Tommy Lee Jones) still love each other deeply. But somewhere along the way, their passion for one another seems to have perished. Upon learning about a relationship therapist (Steve Carell) in Great Hope Springs whose methods have yielded incredible results, Kay pleads with Arnold to sign up for a weeklong session. Little does the committed couple realize that overcoming years of sexual repression will prove to be quite an exhausting challenge.
