Product Description:
Red Army is a documentary film directed, produced, and written by Gabe Polsky, Executive Produced by Jerry Weintraub and Werner Herzog. The film premiered at the 2014 Cannes Film Festival and is now released in the US by Sony Pictures Classics. The film recounts the story of the most successful dynasty in sports history: the Red Army hockey team. Told from the perspective of its captain Slava Fetisov, the story portrays his transformation from national hero to political enemy. From the USSR to Russia, the film examines how sport mirrors social and cultural movements and parallels the rise and fall of the Red Army team with the Soviet Union. Chris Beck (Frozen, Edge of Tomorrow) and Leo Birenberg wrote the music to the film. It's a sweeping score alternating quiet and reflexive with fast and high-energy moments. The music is filled with Russian sounding moments and never loses its focus and vitality.
