Formed in 1967, New Orleans band The Meters are renowned for pioneering a unique sound that blends funk, blues, dance music, and the joyful rhythms of their native Cajun culture. Renamed Funky Meters in 1994, the band has toured with The Rolling Stones; played with Paul McCartney and Robert Palmer; been covered by Widespread Panic and The Grateful Dead; sampled by LL Cool J and Queen Latifah; and lionized by The Red Hot Chili Peppers.
