Product Description:

I am extremely proud of this CD. This is my first full-blown, studio-recorded, shrink-wrapped, manufactured CD. Up to now I'd been recording, printing and packaging the CDs myself. This CD still comes from my own hands - but this time it's made to last. The musicians featured on this CD are men that I've either known or admired from afar for years, some of the best players in this town. David Deaton, who recorded, mixed and mastered the CD - is truly the most amazing musician I've ever personally known. He's one of those people who picked up a guitar as a kid and the notes just seemed to come to him naturally. He is an extremely talented singer/songwriter in his own right, but due to his reputation as an unequaled guitarist, rarely has time to play his own music. Dave Osborn is a member of the famous Osborn family (no, not THOSE Osborns)...his father, Joe Osborn, is a well known session bass player who helped discover the Carpenters and played on too many pop hits throughout the seventies and eighties to name. Dave himself was a session drummer in Nashville for years, and I was thrilled to have him. He shared with me that his first set of drums was given to him by none other than Karen Carpenter herself. John Compton gained infamy locally just as we were finishing this project: as the #1 Parking Ticket Scofflaw in the city of Shreveport. His mug was on the front page of the paper and everything, the whole nine yards! So I feel excited to have a bit of a rebel in the mix. And of course he's an inventive and entertaining bass player, too. Several of these songs were included on my earlier CDs. My feeling is that they have finally been done justice, so I'm ready to move on to recording new material in the years to come. I added a few songs I had written during the process of organizing this new CD, and one of them - Old Horses - ended up being the title track. I originally had planned to make City of the Dead the title track of the album. After giving it some thought, I decided that I'd rather think of myself as a bit of an old horse than among the dead. So here it is, all packaged and pretty and ready for radio airplay and lots of spins in your CD player. I hope you enjoy it listening to it as much as I enjoy having it out there.
