Entertainment Reviews:
Rating: 3.5/5 --
A restrained, ripely atmospheric thriller that relies more on mood than on special effects.
New York Times
This is not the easiest film to just sit back and soak in, but it is very satisfying to do the work.

Film Thrills
an effectively intense and moody horror film that rests on its writing and acting rather than subscribing to rote depictions of violence.

Rating: C+ --
The scrambled timeline seems like an effort to disguise a paucity of original ideas. It'll be interesting to see what Wingard can do when he actually gets hold of some.

AV Club
Rating: 4/5 --
A smart, low-budget 'road thriller' that goes to some very dark places.

FEARnet
Here, too much handheld camera wobble and wavering image focus only alienate the viewer from this somewhat sluggish tale.
Variety
Rating: 4/5 --
A brutally raw and mind-blowing story crafted by one of the best writers working in independent Hollywood today and a cast that oozes both a quiet intensity and a subversive wit.

Product Description:
Director Adam Wingard (POP SKULL, HOME SICK) teams with screenwriter Simon Barrett (DEAD BIRDS) for this shocker concerning a recovering alcoholic being pursued by her psychotic ex-boyfriend -- a dangerous serial killer who has escaped from prison. When Sarah (Amy Seimetz) left Garrick (A.J. Bowen) and moved to the Midwest, she thought she would never see him again. These days Sarah has gotten her drinking under control thanks to Alcoholics Anonymous, and has a good job as a dental hygienist. She's just gotten into a relationship with fellow recovering alcoholic Kevin (Joe Swanberg) when she learns that Garrick is on the loose, and may intend to "finalize" their breakup. Now, as Garrick drives across the country leaving a virtual sea of blood in his wake, Sarah and Kevin brace themselves for a violent confrontation.
