TOMATOMETER
[An] intriguing film, this rarely screened work is an important rediscovery.
Sight and Sound
Product Description:
An unusual film from writer and director Preston Sturges, this is the biography of Dr. W.T. Morgan, a 19th-century Boston dentist who pioneered the use of ether in dental procedures. The film is an unexpected amalgam of various techniques, including an extensive flashback sequence and an unusual blend of genres, veering back and forth from comedy to drama. Still, Sturges fans will want to see it and to remember that this film was taken away from Sturges and reedited by the studio.
