Guitartists John Abercrombie and John Scofield join forces for these early 80 s sessions, mostly duets while occasionally adding bassist George mraz and drummer Peter Donald. They delve into the jazz canon with the latin-fused take of Four On Six (in which Abercrombie overdubs an electric mandolin), and a dreamy duo interpretation of If You Could See Me Now which settles into a relaxed exchange between the two players as if they are playing for themselves alone. Scofield s Small Wonder is scored for the quartet, a bristling post bop vehicle with a feature for Mraz as well, Abercrombie s introspective Sing Song best contrasts the sytles of the two leaders, with the composer a bit more melodic and scofield with a more brittle attack. These are enjoyable tracks that have stood the test of time. Composer improviser and guitarist Dusan Bogdanovic recognized for his exploration of classical, jazz, and world music. Born in Yogoslavua in 1955, after completing his studies he gained professorship in Switzerland at the Genevea Conservatory, Bogdanovic has performed all over the world and accumulated a number of recording credits, including a variety of jazz settings with Charlie Hayden, Anthony Cox and James Newton of the Concord Label. He is a founding member of the Falla Guitar Trio encompossing Afro-Latin jazz, light classical and main stream pop in an acoustic guitar setting,
