A woman (Whitney Hamilton) takes on the guise of her deceased brother, Henry Kieler, so that she may be in the Confederate ranks during the raging American Civil War. After the help of Indian allies, Henry again meets Virginia (Virginia Newcomb), a widow who saved her life during a previous battle. In order to repay the favor, Henry marries Virginia to rescue her from an arranged marriage. What ensues is an unconventional relationship that challenges gender stereotypes.
