Product Description:

Weirder than Weird Al, welcome to the world of Sy Marlo. Marlo is an old school master of balloon animaltry who made the rounds of weddings and bar mitzvahs and was loved because of his wit and chutzpa. Audiences never knew what to expect, except that Sy would always entertain them with a new twist. Balloon Fantasies was originally recorded in the 70s, when Sy had a close call with death and it sat on a shelf collecting dust. Now retired, Sy brought the project to Neal Fox's indie label, Wire Duck Records. A company whose name was inspired by the Marx Bros. "Why a duck?" routine would certainly see the entertainment value of balloon animal music. They did. (Maybe that's because Fox was once a backup singer on "It's Gotta Get Better It Can't Get Worse", a single recorded by Baby Huey and the Bathtub Ring.) With musical tracks updated by Fox, the EP includes the spicy adult track, Oh, Right There!, the electronic-world fusion piece, Poodle Hat, and an exclusive performance of Marlo's now famous Finale, recorded live at the Brickman Bar Mitzvah. The song captures the moment when Sy coined his phrase, "This is Sy Marlo hoping all your balloon fantasies come true." About Neal Fox Neal Fox is an award-winning songwriter and filmmaker with an extensive history in the music business. He's written for film, TV, commercials, and theatre, receiving Clio, Addy and Telly awards. He's won film festival awards for his low-budget music videos, and has self-released ten CDs on his label, Wire Duck Records. Fox has been called, "a stupendous songwriter" (Miami New Times) and Billboard Magazine said he's, "...a rueful Randy Newman eccentric...equally at home in blues, rock, pop and jazz motifs...Fox's lyrics are a solid plus. They often flash with wry wit." As part of the multimedia collaboration, EXPOSED the Art Project, Fox won first prize for a digitally enhanced photograph, "Life Sucks". That was featured in the Through the Eyes of Love exhibit honoring World AIDS Day. Fox's contributions to the project are a series of themed art videos for which he also wrote the scores.
