Product Description:

Rick Cavender may be well known in San Antonio and South Texas as the face and voice for his family's automobile family but he is probably best known and the talented leader of the Rick Cavender Band. Performing for almost fifty events a year over the past twenty four years, the band stays in strong demand. In fact, in 2002 the Hotel and Motel Association honored Rick and his band as San Antonio's 'Entertainer of the Year'. So now comes Coastal Toubadour his latest CD of thirteen brand new orginal songs. Rick returned to the renowned BGM Studios in San Antonio back in August of 2006. Once again he met his studio team of talented musicians. Alan Kolby who has played with Rick over the past three years led all sessions and performed lead guitar and background vocals. Bobby Flores who plays with Ray Price, Asleep at the Wheel, David Kirsh, Sisters Morales and many others came in once again to record numerous tracks. Randy Rinehard pedal steel guitar legend lent his great talent and Chip Dolan joined in from Tish Hinojosa's band to play accordian and concertina. Anthony Bazzani took time off from George Strait's Ace in the Hole Band to perform all keyboard tracks. Dan Dreeben and Mark Malone filled in for all drums and percussion along with the great Jim Kalson on bass. The great Ron Knuth helped to finish all fiddle tracks. Coastal Troubadour takes the listener on a new journey. If you have heard Rick's previous releases Run to the Roadhouse in 1999 and Gypsy Vagabond in 2002 you will know that his songs are written about the places he has visted and enjoyed. Coastal will take you to the beautiful white sand beaches of Monterrey, to Shorty's Bar at Fisherman's Warf in Port Aransas, to the beautiful Frio River winding it's way through the Texas Hill Country and to the famous John T. Floor Country Store in Helotes. And as always, you'll sing along with a smile as he puts his humor to work to write about guys who get in trouble with their women at home. Buffalo Wings will leave you laughing as you hear about a guy who tries to tell his wife that he goes to Hooters because he likes the Buffalo Wings. One Sided Cease Fire is a hilarious tale about a guy who can't get his side of the story in to his battling wife in a double wide trailer. The true Texas two step is counted off with Bobby Flores' twin fiddle intro in the title track Coastal Troubadour. Rick writes a love song to his wife Suzanne of 25 years with his beautiful ballad To Be With You. Higher Command a haunting track features Bobby Flores on nylon strings. The Long Road to Nowhere is Rick's remake of a song that he recorded back in 1992 to pay tribute to a lost man on the road with a love left behind. Rick also works in collaboration with two very well known talents on this new CD. Listen to John T Friday Night and you will hear the familiar voice of Kevin Geil leader of the famed Two Tons of Steel. Rick called Kevin after he had written the song and after he sang the lyrics over the phone, Kevin agreed to come to the studio to record a verse and chorus on the song. Ben Beckendorf brings his very defined blues voice and guitar to the song Serenity and New Orleans Blues is the result. So take the time to take the journey once again. This is Rick Cavender's best album yet.
