In the mid 1970s, as country rock and outlaw country were healing the divide between two musical styles that had previously seemed at odds, the Earl Scruggs Review released the two volume ANNIVERSARY SPECIAL. The two original LPs, released in 1975 and 1976, put bluegrass pioneer Earl Scruggs in the studio with a new generation of country and rock musicians, from Charlie Daniels and Doug Kershaw to Billy Joel, Roger McGuinn, and even Leonard Cohen. The songs are an equally varied mix of rock and bluegrass standards.
