Zazen's debut album Enlightenment has a new '90s sound that folds keyboards, guitar and percussion into a range of music from mellow acoustic to progressive rock. It's no wonder there's a progressive mix. Consider the band: Joaquin Lievano, former guitarist with Jean-Luc Ponty, and Andy West on bass, formerly of The Dixie Dregs. Steve Kaplan on keyboards and Rama on percussion provide stellar performances. The music is based on a trilogy of songs built around five elements once believed to be the underpinning of all things: water, wind, thunder, fire and earth. ~ MusD
