One Guy's Opinion
PAPER MAN defies everything we've been taught about who'll save the day.

The manipulations characters act out with each other are realistic, even if the overlong and not-nearly-twee-enough comedy built around them isn't, making for a movie whose script may have had more merit than its execution. Or not.

We don't even get a real sense of what kind of writer Richard is, or even if he's any good. It does make a difference, after all, if the novel he can't write is worth writing. A bigger question: Was "Paper Man" worth making?

Product Description:
Struggling writer Richard Dunne (Jeff Daniels) is unhappy with his status in middle age, but his friendship with a young woman (SUPERBAD's Emma Stone) helps him make it through the day, much to the anger of his wife (Lisa Kudrow). Though that description might sound rather pedestrian, this dramedy adds a twist to the formula by introducing Richard's imaginary friend, a superhero played by Ryan Reynolds.
