Description by OLDIES.com:

This is the most definitive review of the music of Genesis from the Peter Gabriel era to the world mega stardom. This amazing 2-disc set features rare archive material of Peter Gabriel performing with Genesis, much of it appearing on DVD for the very first time.

When Peter Gabriel left Genesis in 1975, the critics claimed the band would wither and die, but Phil Collins stepped out from behind the drum kit and the revitalized Genesis produced an amazing series of albums, which bridged the divide between art rock and commercialism. Using the actual words of the band and critics, Inside Genesis is the definitive critical review of the music of Genesis from "Trespass" to "Duke." This period saw Genesis grow from progressive icons to become one of the biggest grossing acts in the world. This DVD features rare concert performances from the Duke tour as well as previously unreleased interviews with the band.

Product Description:

Co-founded by Peter Gabriel in 1965, Genesis quickly became one of the forerunners of the prog-rock genre with their near-symphonic pop and highly theatrical live shows. Drummer Phil Collins assumed stewardship of the band when Gabriel quit in 1975, leading Genesis out of the clubs and into the stadiums of the world with a commercial savvy that combined their older psychedelic leanings with a newer populist edge. This documentary offers a critical review of Genesis's recorded output during both the Gabriel years (1970-1975) and the Collins years (1975-1980) through archival footage, interviews with critics and musicologists, and performance clips.
