Divided We Stand DeCeption

Formed in December 2010, the Knoxville, TN. based hard rock band, Divided We Stand, (later referred to as DWS) began with the vision that music is a universal language with the ability to speak to every human emotion. Louder than any one voice, or even a multitude, music can unite individuals who would otherwise remain separated. DWS has transformed this concept into a movement that effectively takes listeners, throws them head-long into a dervish of melodic mania, and finally hurls them back out with a new perspective on how music can impact lives. Rooted in hard rock, DWS develops their unique song-writing by infusing elements of classical, metal, and even folk. The wide range of influences between members, Mike Russell (Drums), Randy Krouse (bass), Trevor Tucker (Guitars), Phil Zimny (Guitars/Vocals), and front man Joe Turner (Lead Vocals) span from Coldplay to Slayer. This variety of inspiration is evident in their library of over 30 songs; however the overall sound is reminiscent to the solid, driving rhythm of bands such as Mudvayne and Disturbed, and the beautifully layered dual-guitar dynamic of Avenged Sevenfold. Add to this the explosive vocal report of Joe Turner, and you are served with a tasty cocktail of well-blended music sure to satisfy any rock enthusiast. However, their songs reach beyond just the rocker crowd, and many individuals partial to other genres have been enchanted by DWS's sound. The fan base DWS has established bridges gaps from the 15 year-old metal head, to the 45 year-old classic rock connoisseur, and even pop/hip-hop lovers. As such, DWS continues to grow their movement, and surprise fans, by continuously evolving their well-oiled machine of mayhem. Many notable accomplishments have helped to cut the path that DWS has marched for the last two and a half years. The band released their first 4 song recording Civil Unrest in April 2011, after 3 months of serious writing together. Two singles from Civil Unrest "Intimidation" and "Hindrance", received airplay weekly on 94.3 The X (WNFZ-FM), and also received frequent play on 90.3 The Rock (WUTK), the University of Tennessee Knoxville radio station. This helped create an impressive local following quickly, and starting fall of 2012, less than one year after forming, DWS began to share the stage with national/international acts including Hoobastank (Island Records), Pop Evil (E1 Music), Red Line Chemistry (Bulldog Productions), All That Remains (Prosthetic Records, Razor & Tie), and SOiL (AFM/Pavement) to date. More recently, DWS won first place at the 2013 Hard Rock Rising Battle of the Bands regional competition at the Hard Rock Caf‚ in Gatlinburg, TN., and moved on to the Global level placing in the top 75 bands out of over 12,000 entries! Divided We Stand is currently anticipating their upcoming 5 song release Deception recorded at Lakeside Studios with grammy-nominated producer Travis Wyrick (10 Years, POD, Dolly Parton, Adelitas Way, Disciple, and others), and will be available by the end of 2013. Of the many things the future may hold, one thing is certain; although we may be of differing backgrounds, beliefs, race, or creed, the music of Divided We Stand transforms the meaning of their name from a vision to a reality.
