Hazel Green, Alabama, USA. In her childhood Lynch discovered the magic of old bluegrass recordings, and by 1973 had joined the Hickory Wind group. Subsequently evolving into the Front Porch String Band, between 1975 and 1981 they released three albums before agreeing to part company. Afterwards, Lynch moved to Nashville with the intention of working as a songwriter. Her accomplished backing vocals and writing skills soon found her regular employment with artists such as Patty Loveless, Kathy Mattea and Tanya Tucker. All three artists recorded her songs, while her backing vocals were also employed by Linda Ronstadt, Emmylou Harris, Charlie Sizemore and Dolly Parton. She re-formed the Front Porch String Band with her former colleagues in 1991, with whom she recorded the well-received Lines And Traces.
