3LW Biography

One of many all-female urban vocal groups to spring up in the wake of TLC and Destiny’s Child, New Jersey, USA-based 3LW (Three Little Women) comprises Naturi Naughton (20 May 1984, East Orange, New Jersey, USA), Kiely Williams (b. 9 July 1986, Alexandria, Virginia, USA), and Adrienne Bailon (b. 24 October 1983, New York City, New York, USA). The trio was inaugurated by Williams’ mother, who auditioned singers to join her daughter in a vocal trio. Naughton and Bailon, the successful vocalists, were both members of their local church choirs. The trio, at the time barely out of their early teens, signed a recording contract with Epic Records. The record company teamed the girls up with several leading producers and songwriters to record their self-titled debut, a well-crafted but utterly formulaic collection released in November 2000. Naughton left the group in August 2002, shortly before the release of their new album. 3LW was restored to a trio the following year when Jessica Benson (b. Severn, Maryland, USA) was added to the line-up.
