Product Description:

As usual Bob Hope is up to his ears in trouble when he takes to the racetrack and gives a mobster a bad tip. Suddenly he's on the run trying to escape the law, the mob and a trigger-happy partner. His only hope' A phony Santa Claus scam.

Plot Synopsis:

A race-track tipster known as "The Lemon Drop Kid" mistakenly gives a gangster's moll a bad tip on a dog, costing her ten thousand dollars. The gangster is understandably upset about this and orders the Kid to pay up, forcing him to plot an elaborate Christmas-time con game to raise the funds.


Production Notes:

  • Remake of the 1934 film, "The Lemon Drop Kid," which starred Lee Tracy, Helen Mack, Minna Gombell, Baby LeRoy, Robert McWade, Henry B. Walthall, Kitty Kelly, and Eddie Peabody. This adaptation of Damon Runyon's tale was directed by Marshall Neilan. Both versions feature William Frawley.
